dude,, you need to know first what is the specs of that desktop before you reformat it,

because different Operating system has a different requirement,

and also reformating a computer, is the last option that you can do,,

RE: how to reformat a desktop
if you already have the CD, place it on the CDROM. since you're using XP, hit the F8 button repeatedly upon reboot before the windows logo appears. it should take you to the boot setup, set the first boot devide to "cdrom", or "USB CDROM" if you're using one. restart. follow the steps and you're done Smile

first thing is u should know whats ur pc's spec
by going to Start button > Run> type "dxdiag"
all information about ur pc is listed there

then after u found out what's ur pc's spec try to compare the requirements of the
windows u wanted to install, if ur system meets the requirements then thats the time
when ur ready to reformat ur pc .
